David is a professional pianist, published composer and YouTube educator. His work in music has taken him on many exciting adventures: from a residency at Monaco's Casino de Monte Carlo, to recording at Abbey Road studios, and even starring in an episode of WDR's 'Wunderschön!' with his band The One Night Band. In 2018, David started his YouTube channel "David Bennett Piano", where he analyses and discusses the music theory and history behind some of the greatest music ever made. As of 2020, his videos have been viewed over 30 million times and he has over 300,000 subscribers.
Early 2018, David uploaded his first educational video to his YouTube channel, "How The Beatles Used Modes". Since then, his channel has been growing at an exciting rate. He achieved his first 100,000 subscribers in November 2019 and has now amassed over 26 million views on his videos and over 275,000 subscribers. David believes that, to learn music theory in a meaningful and useful way, students need real world examples, and that's just what he does, pulling from his love of classic artists such as The Beatles, Radiohead, Bowie and Queen to demonstrate music theory concepts in action. His videos take an"under-the-hood" look at some of the best songs of all time with the aim of gaining a better understanding of what makes them so universally adored and to see what lessons we can learn from the world's greatest songwriters.
